One Of My Heros ...

niall toner band
As a Songwriter, one of my greatest thrills is when a hero of mine records a song of mine. Such was very much the case with Albert Lee. I've been a fan of his since his Heads, Hands and Feet days, long before he starred with the Everly Brothers or Emmylou and the Hot Band.In my wildest dreams I don't think I ever believed that I could get Albert Lee to record one of mine, but I persisted. I had been sending him songs for about five years, with zero results. Then in 2006 I was at his gig in Whelans of Wexford Street, and along with a mass of fans after a scorching show with Hogan's Heros, I passed my 2-song demo over the heads of folks getting autographs, and headed off into the night. Around ten Months after this I was sitting at home when the telephone rang, and a voice said 'hi, this is Albert Lee, and I'm in a studio in Los Angeles, and I'm recording one of your songs. I hope you like my version' ! I almost fell off my chair, but shortly afterwards, Albert sent me a copy of his CD on Sugar Hill Records, and his version of Working On Love is, indeed, a cracker ! Roll on next time !
