NTB, OUR FIRST EVER CANCELLATION !

niall toner band
If I ever had to be stuck, marooned, imprisoned, I could not be stuck in a more beautiful place than here in the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains in Coolasnaughta, which is certainly living up to it's name this past week. For non-Gaelic scholars, the name roughly translates as 'corner of snow', and I can vouch for the fact that the name is based on some equally dramatic snow fall sometime back in History. It's a small valley in the lee of Mount Leinster, and when it snows on the Mountain, it tends to drift in the valley, and so we are well and truly snow-bound. Neighbours are, to say the very least, amazing, and supplies of food and fuel have been left at our gate, so at least we are warm and fed. However, I am madly frustrated by the fact that our NTB gig at the Athy Arts Centre, booked for tomorrow night[Saturday, December the 4th] has been cancelled due to the extraordinary weather conditions. I was really looking forward to playing there, and I am equally mad at the idea of letting people down. We will re-schedule, probably for late February, and I will post the date as soon as it's carved in stone. Meanwhile, it gives me an opportunity to get back to work on our new songs ! Dick and Clem also send their apologies about tomorrow night. As of now, our shows for next week, Shannon Airport on Friday, and the Mary B Folk Club on Saturday, are firm. [Weather permitting !] Niall, December 3, 2010.
