Alternative Entertainments Celbridge Library Gig Thursday October 21st 2010
The way they all should be ! Last night the NTB were privileged to be in Celbridge Library for the opening night of the 2010 Des Carty Sessions, organised by the boys and girls of Alternative Entertainments in Tallagh. Our Master of Ceremonies was none other than the truly amazing Sean Garvey, one of Ireland's best Sean Nos Traditional Singers in both Irish and English languages, and no mean Tin Whistle player to boot ! Sean did a wonderful job as MC, and this was one of the best-organised Gigs we have ever done. Add to that the fact that we had a full house of attentive and enthusiastic listeners, as well as copious supplies of Tea and Sandwiches supplied by the Celbridge Library Staff, and it all adds up to a perfect Storm.[Gig!] This is the kind of occasion that makes it all seem worthwhile. After our show I must have shaken hands with a couple of hundred people, and this is a night I will not forget. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. For a three-piece String Band to play all-original material to an audience like that in a wonderful venue, and to sell truck-loads of CDs, it just what it's all about, and it's the way they all should be. Long live live music! Thanks also to the Arts Council of Ireland for their continued support. Niall Toner, Thursday 21st October, 2010. Photo to follow !
